Review: Dangerous Encounters: Twelve Book Boxed Set

Dangerous Encounters: Twelve Book Boxed Set Dangerous Encounters: Twelve Book Boxed Set by Laurelin Paige
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I like free box sets. But I just could not read this one. I got part way into the first book when I quit.
Why you might ask?
I despise fiction that includes physical abuse, torture, or rape scenes.
That stuff is in this first book, plus more. I didn't bother to read any further. This is very dark stories, judging by the first book. The blurb promises alpha heroes and strong heroines, but I didn't find any of those in the first book.

This is not a set I would recommend, and the blurb is very deceptive as far as what it promises and what the set delivers. If you like sick, twisted relationship stories ...... well, I wonder about you; and about the author who wrote that first book. Don't know what the rest of the books are like and didn't care to find out. The first author is to blame for that.

Review: Laiden's Daughter

Laiden's Daughter Laiden's Daughter by Suzan Tisdale
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I never got past the first few pages.
I DO NOT recommend this book to anyone.
I DESPISE it when authors put physical abuse and rape scenes in their books.
This book has both of those right off the bat, right at the beginning.
The rest of the story might be good, but the author lost me right at the beginning. There should be some kind of warning when that stuff is in a book, and to have it right at the beginning of the book ..... But at least I didn't waste much time on this book.

Review: Kiss And Make Up

Kiss And Make Up Kiss And Make Up by Serenity Woods
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Good book if you like lust and sex rather than romance. This book could more be labeled erotica than romance. Throughout the book, they're lusting after each other, figuring out where and when they can have sex, and thinking about how they're going to part ways after the film is finished.

And why is it, in books now days, the man quits his stuff to go and follow the woman?!? I get so tired of that. What about the woman loving the man so much, she follows him? And what happened to romance? Lust and sex are not romance! They're just lust and sex.

Review: Summer Love Puppy

Summer Love Puppy Summer Love Puppy by Rachelle Ayala
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is another awesome book from author Rachelle Ayala. I love her books because they're not your staid romance novel formula. Her characters leap off the page, and the story always has a delicious twist. This book is no exception and is a great book. I love the character of Grady Hart, and Linx is a character that you'll love to dislike. It's a rockingly wonderful story that you just need to read.

Review: The Dancing Bride

The Dancing Bride The Dancing Bride by Cynthia Woolf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I simply loved this book! It was wonderful! One of the best mail order bride books I've ever read. The hero was everything you would want. The heroine was strong, but yet feminine, and very likeable. The hero's friends were great! This was just a fantastic book. I loved, loved, loved it. And yes! You should read it.

Review: Arm Candy

Arm Candy Arm Candy by Patricia Ryan
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I think the author of this book was trying to channel a little shades of grey book. I didn't care to read shades of grey, and this book isn't that good. It's all right, I gave it 2 stars; but just not that great a book.

Review: For The Love Of A Widow

For The Love Of A Widow For The Love Of A Widow by Christina McKnight
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a good book, interesting characters, enjoyable story. But, I have a major problem with a basic part of the overall storyline. It's touted all throughout the book about how much she loved Gregory and how much he loved her. Yet, he took her to battle with him, and put her through countless horrors. If he loved her so much, he would have had her safely secured back home in England, not dragging her throughout the war with him. This ruins the whole book for me.

Nice box set with 3 very entertaining stories. Great use of a theme by the author. All with a similar theme on mother-in-laws, but 3 very different stories. Great read, I enjoyed it.

Review: Her Dakota Man

Her Dakota Man Her Dakota Man by Lisa Mondello
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Just simply not that good. The characters aren't that likable, didn't care too much for the storyline, and too much in the head wondering. Simply not that good a book.

Review: Nursing A Grudge

Nursing A Grudge Nursing A Grudge by Diana Orgain
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

All throughout this book I was wondering -- why the heck would a new mother take up being a private detective? That makes no sense, considering all a new mother has to deal with; and putting the lives of her and her child at stake? That one major story flaw erodes the enjoyment of the whole book. Plus, she too conveniently has too many spare hands to take care of her child, which she is constantly dumping off on someone. And, she's dumb as a fence post regarding the detective work, despite this being book no. 4.

Review: Love in the Valley of the Kings

Love in the Valley of the Kings Love in the Valley of the Kings by Nicola Italia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a wildly wonderful book that has it all. It's set in the exotic location of Egypt and the pyramids, back in the 20s I believe. Wonderful characters and an awesome story. There's murders and mystery, and a great whodunit.

The Fairhope Series, Books 1-3: The Trouble With Goodbye, The Moment We Began, and A Season For Hope The Fairhope Series, Books 1-3: The Trouble With Goodbye, The Moment We Began, and A Season For Hope by Sarra Cannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fun box set to read, with characters that weave throughout all 3 books. The set doesn't end on a cliffhanger though, so you can just read the set and no more. Good characters, great stories, fun to read, not sex focused, but story focused.

Review: Twice Tethered

Twice Tethered Twice Tethered by Sabine Priestley

As science fiction romance goes, this book is an excellent example of what it should be. Loved this book. Great characters, great storyline; but no cliffhanger.
