Review: License to Date

License to Date License to Date by Susan Hatler
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I really didn't care for this book much. It's a light, fluffy romance, if that's what you looking for. The characters are pretty one dimensional and don't have a lot of depth. I don't like the main character or the way she lets her friends push her around. Nor the duplicitous main male character either. It's just not a very strong book, and sometimes the friends can come off as pushy and annoying; and the main female character doesn't come off well at all either. I mean really! She agrees to go on a bunch of dates just to get free help working on her house? If they were really her friends, they would have agreed to help her anyway, and wouldn't have pushed her about the dating.

Review: A Husband for Christmas: Halsey Homecoming

A Husband for Christmas: Halsey Homecoming A Husband for Christmas: Halsey Homecoming by Paty Jager
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Since this is the final book in a series, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it much. Most books like this are only enjoyable by those who have read the series. I've read those books, and was expecting that in this one. But guess what?
THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS.
No, you don't need to have read the rest of the series to enjoy this book.
Now, about this book, it's a wonderful historical romance tale that I liked a lot. The characters are really awesome, and it has a super cool ending. I bet the rest of the books in this series rock too, but you don't have to have read them to enjoy this book. It stands on it's own and is very good.

This is a really good book that has a good ending. But, I had a hard time getting into the book at first. I kept skimming through it, and it picks up after you get into the book. Has a really good ending.

Review: Mann Cakes

Mann Cakes Mann Cakes by Mysti Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truly awesomely fun read in this book. While away serving their country, the business that twin brothers Tanner and Garrett started with their friend is destroyed and their friend is lost too. Trying to recover from this, they move back home and buy a restaurant that is for sale; planning to sell savory cupcakes. They come smack up against the two girls that neither man has forgotten since high school, Paige and Morgan, who also run a cupcake/bakery business. And the sparks fly.

But their problems follow them and trouble ensues, both of the mystery/suspicious kind; and of the romantic kind. You get two romances in one book, and it's an awesome book that you just must put on your to read list. The story takes place in the rolling hills of Kentucky, which is a plus for me, as I'm from Kentucky.

Review: What Once Was Perfect

What Once Was Perfect What Once Was Perfect by Zoe York
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book was disappointing. Wasn't very Christmassy. Didn't like the female lead character. The guy was so-so. The story was one I had read before. Guy lets girl go. She becomes famous, comes back home. He falls for her again. She acts like an ass for a while. They have sex a lot. Guy totally rearranges his life for HER!

Pardon me, but I grew up in a day and age when the woman rearranged her life for the guy. I mean, if she REALLY cares about him, she'd be willing to do that. But in books like this, the girl is never willing to uproot and rearrange her life for the guy, but she expects the guy to do just that. I mean, come on!

So tired of books like this. I like good old fashioned romance.

Review: Christmas with Angel

Christmas with Angel Christmas with Angel by Lexi Post
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This book is mostly about them trying to find places to have sex. The latter part of this very short book isn't too bad, but it's best read if you've read the other books in this series.
YES, THIS IS A CONTINUED STORY.
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE OTHER BOOKS, YOU WON'T REALLY GET THIS ONE.
Seriously, if you haven't read any other books about these characters, don't bother with this one.

Seems like a nice enough set, but just didn't catch my interest. Couldn't get into the story, so moved on to another book.

Review: A Christmas Worth Billions

A Christmas Worth Billions A Christmas Worth Billions by Jaclyn Hardy
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book isn't Christmassy, it's depressing. Yeah, I know, real life and that stuff happens and all ..... but, ........ I read books to get away from all that stuff. The book starts out with the guy moaning and crushingly sad because his wife is gone. And the mom is just plain stupid! She's lets her kids sleep in the cold and doesn't accept help the church would give because, "she wants to show she can do it on her own". I mean, how stupid a character can you get?!!?

Let me tell you, when you're down and out, you take whatever help anyone is willing to offer; and you shove that 'do it on your own' crap right where it goes - right out the door and into the garbage.

I didn't get far into this book because one character is insanely depressing, and the other character is colossally stupid. I have better books to read.

Review: Pastels and Jingle Bells

Pastels and Jingle Bells Pastels and Jingle Bells by Christine S. Feldman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a touching book that will speak to anyone who has ever been teased or bullied. It's a great book to read, and very Christmassy. I mean, what's a girl to do when her the school bully from her past turns out to be a single dad with a little girl who is being picked on? Just melt into a puddle, that's what. It's a great book and a good holiday read, so check it out.

Review: A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong

A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Now I like Christmas romances, and I like historical romances; but, I don't like this one. The characters are rather pitiful. The guy ..... he just isn't that likeable in any shape, way, or form; and the girl and her uncle, they read like escapees from a lunatic asylum. It just isn't that good.

Review: Christmas Wish

Christmas Wish Christmas Wish by Melanie Shawn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The blurb sounds good. Shoot, the blurb sounds great. But the book just doesn't live up to the blurb. There's too much focus on their sexual response to each other. The characters are rather shallow and not deeply fleshed out. The story just isn't that great, isn't that Christmassy to me.

Review: A Father for Christmas

A Father for Christmas A Father for Christmas by Rachelle Ayala
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a truly awesome book by my favorite writer. And yes, it is Christmassy. It's a deep story about a complicated relationship between a war damaged vet and a single mother. The path to true love isn't simple or quick for this couple, but the author has written an awesome story, and I loved it. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone for any time of the year. Has the most awesome ending.

Review: To Save a Lady

To Save a Lady To Save a Lady by Lindsay Downs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an awesome book, and I simply loved it! I'd call the genre historical mystery/romance, and author Lindsay Downs does it so well. The characters are great, and the mystery is simply fascinating. They're searching for the murderer of a man, and the pursuit gets downright dangerous for our female and male heroines. Plus, you get 2 romances, and not just one.

Review: Going Hearts Over Heels

Going Hearts Over Heels Going Hearts Over Heels by Rachelle Ayala
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an awesomely fun romance novel from one of my favorite authors. She doesn't disappoint in this book, she never disappoints. It's a fun novel where city meets country, and not mice, but a boy and a girl. The city girl comes to the small town, and the country boy doesn't care for the city, but does like the girl. The story of these two getting together is a lot of rollicking good fun from an awesome author. If you've never read her work before, then this is a good time to start.

Review: Romancing the Rogue

Romancing the Rogue Romancing the Rogue by Erica Ridley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Short book, but a good book. Great characters that draw you in immediately. Love the story, it's awesome.

Love the female main character, smart but feminine. The male main character is a bit of an unobservant rogue. He wronged her years ago, and now they've connected again.

I'm sure you'll like the ending, I loved it.

Review: A Cherry Sinister Murder / The Cheesecake Fake

A Cherry Sinister Murder / The Cheesecake Fake A Cherry Sinister Murder / The Cheesecake Fake by Nancy McGovern
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It's all right, but not great. The mystery part isn't too well concocted, and there's an obvious mistake made in the laying out of it. The characters aren't very compelling either. I skimmed through the first book, which was all right; and I skipped the second book all together and moved on to another book. It's an all right set, but not that great.
