The review --
This was a very
gloomy, tragic, book, and I did not like it at all; not a happy book to read. I
only read a third of book, then skipped to ending. It is not a happy book at
all.
It chronicles the life
and times of the Manning family, focusing on a specific generation or two.
Their story is sad and depressing, as several tragic deaths are chronicled. If
you want to be depressed, this would be a good book to read. If not, avoid it.
If you like tragic historical fiction, then this book would be for you.
Please do not confuse
this book with historical romantic fiction. They are 2 totally different
genres.
